The Cumbrian Sammy Cross (CSC) was bred by Joe Calvert who first showed it at the Jenning’s world championships held at Maryport which I judged. These leeks were of immense size, well over the 300 cubic inches per pair.
Although the leeks are capable of 150 cubic inches each, I feel best quality is achieved around the 125 cubic inches. The leek easily grows to this size maintaining its straightness and quality.
A short leek for those who have problems with length.
